Dear Faith Lutheran family ...
God's grace and peace be to you.
It is healthy and imperative that we gather together as a faith family in anyway possible during these challenging times. ... And science tells us that finding some kind of normalcy is important during anxious times.
And so in an effort to seek some normalcy and fellowship ... I would like to invite you all to a "Digital Lenten Service" tonight at 7:15 p.m. on Facebook.
FLC Organist Mike Nelson will be joining me at the church, and we will broadcast a short service that will include some music, prayers, some readings and a short message.
You can "tune in" by going to the Faith Lutheran Church's Facebook page, and on there, you will find a live feed that can be viewed on any digital device, cell phone, iPad or tablet, desktop computer or even smart TV.
Again, the live service will begin at 7:15 p.m.
In addition, for those of you who are a little more Facebook savvy, you will be able to communicate with us and others viewing the broadcast in a real-time fashion. ... And I encourage you to do so as a way to celebrate the peace, which we love so much!
For anyone who may be a little unfamiliar with the technology of Facebook, I'm sure that a grandchild could talk you through using the platform! 😀
I should also stress that this is NOT an invitation to come to the church for the service. We are not opening the church to worshipers. ... We are ONLY performing a limited digital service to be viewed remotely. Let's continue to be mindful of the safety precautions we have all been asked to observe. Thank you!
Mike tells me that one of the hymns he will play tonight is "Here I am," and so I encourage those of you who are inspired to find the lyrics online to sing along tonight. ... We may not be able to hear each other, but the Spirit will carry those vibes to the greater world, which direly needs it right now.
Also, if there are any prayer requests that you would like to submit in advance of tonight's service, feel free to drop them here in the comments, or text them to me. And I will be sure to include them in our prayers tonight.
It is my intention to hold as complete of a service as possible, whenever we can, as it is vital that we do not lose our communion as a faith family. And so I will take every opportunity and tool to do so, including digital tools.
So, please, spread the word, and join us tonight on Facebook to witness the love and peace that the Holy Spirit brings us when we worship together! ... Let's demonstrate that our faith is strong even during the most challenging times!
Blessings to you all! ... We'll see you tonight!
Pastor Devlyn
