Finding Faith ... in a state championship!

Well, they did it!

Carter and his Spuds teammates were crowned state champions today!

Roll Spuds!

They earned their state championship today via the final AP Minnesota High School Football rankings, which were released live by Minneapolis KARE 11's Randy Shaver.

The 2020 Spuds join the 1971 and 1987 Moorhead teams as state champions.

While the kids wanted to play this out on the field to prove they were the best, today's recognition is pretty impressive considering there were only three outstate teams ranked in the Top 10 in Class 5A at all.

And so you know it take a pretty incredible team to capture the attention of a Twin Cities-dominated statewide media.

The media can call it a "mythical" championship all they want, but the kids earned this championship starting the very first day after last season ended. And I personally don't believe there needs to be any qualifiers. ... But then again, I may be biased.
